Pelican is For Sale!

Pelican is a 1965 Pearson Alberg 35 who has taken us safely to British Columbia and down the coast to Mexico.  Former owners sailed her from California to Mexico, then back to the northwest via Hawaii.  She is currently located in Seattle, Washington and is ready for new owners to take her out cruising today.

The Alberg 35 is a rugged, solid offshore cruising boat.  She is strongly built, with a sold fiberglass hull.  Her decks are cored with end-grain balsa which helps prevent any moisture entering the core from spreading.  Offshore she can handle a blow easily with reduced sail, and she only needs a few knots of wind to move along in light air.  The overhanging stern allows her stern to easily lift with any following seas, letting the waves roll under her.  Pelican will keep her crew safe in any conditions.

She has been continuously upgraded over the past few years including new Universal M-25XPB diesel engine in 2002, new epoxy bottom in 2003, new hull paint, Sigmar diesel heater, new deep cycle batteries (2002), new chainplates, ICOM IC-706MKIIG HAM/SSB radio and AT130 tuner, insulated backstay and ground plane installation.

For more information on the Alberg 35, check out the Alberg 35 owners group.

A good Cruising World review of the Alberg 35 and 37 can be found here.

Owning Pelican is like owning a little piece of history; a fascinating article on the history of Pearson yachts (who built the first production fiberglass boats beginning in the late 1950s) can be found at http://www.boatus.com/goodoldboat/PearsonHistory.htm.

Layout

Pelican has a custom interior; as you walk down the companionway steps you will find a quarterberth to starboard and the large L-shaped galley to port.  To starboard is a settee that pulls out to extend into a larger berth.  Amidships to port is a table/nav desk.  Going forward, the head is to starboard with a hanging locker to port.  Finally, the bow holds a huge comfortable v-berth with vanity table and another hanging locker, plus storage in drawers.  A large chain locker is located in the bow and can be accessed via the v-berth.
